Band of the week

Молодая группа The Naked and the Famous, играюшая музыку в стилях alternative rock, industrial, electropop за последние три года стала первым новозеландским коллективом, возглавившим национальный чарт у себя на родине. Сингл «Young Blood», кроме этого, попал в саундтрек новой молодежной комедии студии Диснея «Prom», а еще завоевал награду Silver Scroll, ежегодно присуждаемую Австрало-азиатской Ассоциацией исполнительского права (APRA) – в категории «Песня года».

Впервые о группе заговорили года этак два назад, когда их довольно сыроватые EP внезапно и довольно малообъяснимо стали предметом умеренного интереса музыкальной прессы. В 2010 группа крепко встала на ноги и порадовала нас не только бойким и тонизирующим гимном «Young Blood», сняв к нему бестолковый, но очень стильный видеоряд, но и синглом «Punching in a Dream», также попавшем в новозеландские и автралийские чарты. Осенью ансамбль созрел для формата полноценного альбома и выпустил свой дебютный лонгплэй «Passive Me, Aggressive You», после чего отправился в мировое турне.

Совсем недавно стало известно, что квинтет из Новой Зеландии попал в ежегодный список самых многообещающих артистов будущего года «Sound of 2011″ британской вещательной корпорации Би-би-си. Есть надежда, что новый 2011-й год будет для молодого коллектива таким же щедрым, как, скажем, для группы Hurts, представленной в аналогичном списке Би-би-си годом ранее.

The Kooks(произносится «кукс») — британская инди-рок-группа, основанная в Брайтоне, Англия, в 2004 году. Состав участников в настоящее время: Люк Причард (гитара, вокал), Хью Харрис (гитара, бэк-вокал), Крис Прендергаст (ударные) и Пит Дентон (бас-гитара. The Kooks выпустили два студийных альбома, оба достигли большого успеха в британских чартах: в 2006 году дебютный альбом Inside in/Inside out достиг 2 строчки, второй альбом Konk сразу после выхода занял 1 место.В своём первом совместном концерте участники квартета исполнили кавер композиции Reptilia команды The Strokes.
